Designing a gorgeous city such as Chandigarh was a dream project to our first Prime minister ‘ Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru ‘. Chandigarh is the result of creation and planning by the well known  French architect Le Corbusier.


His idea of building a residential area along with parks we’re simply remarkable. Open Hand Monument is such a remarkable design by him which became the crowning point of Le Corbusier called the contemplation hollow. The magnificent symbol is the only structure in the UNESCO World Heritage Site that can be access without prior permission. Le Corbusier had a very strong reason to build the monument which is now the official symbol of Chandigarh administration.


The Emblem design is to convey peace and reconciliation, and the unity of Mankind. Open Hand Monument implies the result of his life study, struggles, defeats, and victories.

The rock garden of Chandigarh is a beautiful sculpture garden of  Chandigarh, India. It also tells knowledge full as it tells us how can we reuse the waste materials in a attractive and beautiful way . Its near the sukhna lake . This beautiful garden is created by Nek Chand Saini a government employ  in 1957 in his spare time due to which it’s also known as Nek Chand’s Rock Garden .

Today the area covered of the garden is about 40 acres (16 ha). The garden is fully from industrial and home waste and discarded items. It consists of man-made  waterfalls which are interlink and many other sculptures, all the sculptures are of scrap and other kinds of waste. Also there is a doll museum inagurate by UT Administrator V.P. Singh Badnore inside the rock garden . The rock garden consists 200 dolls of waste clothes , they were the creations of Nek Chand in the 1970s.

Comming to a lake is the most calm feeling in the world . Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh is a reservoir at the lower regions  of the Himalayas. This 3 km² rainfed lake was created  by damming the Sukhna Choe in 1958  by a seasonal stream coming down from the Shivalik Hills. The sukhna lake is a reservoir of surface area 3km² with an average depth of 8ft and maximum depth of 16ft . The lake is a creation of Le Corbusier and the central specialist P L Verma.


Sukhna is an indivisible  part of the city of Chandigarh. At the south of the lake a golf course ,while as the famous Rock Garden of Chandigarh is to the west. Earlier it was known as chakraborty lake after Birendra Narayan Chakraborty the governor of Haryana . It also have a membership club containing lawn ,gym ,boating , waterskinng, and many more . Sukhna is also a sanctuary for many exotic migratory birds like storks ,cranes etc.  Sukhna lake is also a venue for the mango festival in monsoons .



Its a well known beautiful and  botanical garden in Chandigarh, India  located at   JanMarg, 16B, Sector 16, Chandigarh. The beautiful garden is spread over 30 acres of land containing 50000 rose bushes of 1600 different species . It was opened in 1967 currently owned by the Chandigarh administration . The garden also have some trees which have medicinal value and are very useful . There is no entry fee to visit this beautiful garden , it’s open on all the seven days .It also have fountains and benches and open place for people to sit . Its soothing environment make it a good place for spending time with family .


This place is just perfect for a family picnic. Photographers can get really good shots here for their portfolio. Every Year there is a rose festival held in the month of February . The  place is quiet yet charming and attracts



 Government museum and art gallery is a beautiful  art Museum, architecture Museum,natural History Museum located at 502 sector, 10C, Chandigarh . This beautiful and informative museum was architect by Le CorbusierIt, carrying a collection of Gandharan sculptures, Pahari and Rajasthani miniature paintings. It owes its existence to the partition of India in August, 1947. It was established on May 6 ,1968  currently owned by Chandigarh administration having a collection size of about 10,000 artefacts .


A large variety of  different art and old stones statue of different Lord can be seen here . Its a good place for people who have intrest in historical art . The museum gives us tons of knowledge and a very valuable information. 



Chandigarh is the home to one of the vastest shopping malls in India, with an area of more than a million square feet. It is the second biggest shopping center in northern India and seventh-largest mall in the country . It is the creation of Larsen and Toubro as a part of mixed-use real estate development opened in April 2013 currently owned by nexus malls .


It has a massive area with a number of best brands and the top  floor is to eat our heart out. With a remarkable fun city for the kids to spend time and really enjoy. The mall also has a multiplex PVR cinema with 8 screens.



At a distance of 2km from Chandigarh bus stato, it is one of the best museums in India located in Bal Bhavan Sector 23. The International Dolls Museum established in 1985 has a huge collection of dolls from parts of India and abroad. The place is under the management of the Indian Council of Child Welfare, Chandigarh. The museum is set in a lovely position, lots of nature around, and a cozy building. It consists of 250 dolls and puppets gathered from different countries like Denmark, Germany, America, Russia, Spain, Korea, etc. It gives a glimpse into the Words, and also recreating some scenes from Indian heritage and Walt Disney Movies representing popular fairy tales characters like Aladdin, Cinderella, Snow-white, etc with a very small entry fee of only 10 Rs. The museum has four sections –


International dolls, History of dolls, Indian Dolls, and Activity corner. The huge model of German Railway Station in the middle is a visual pleasure. International Dolls Museum has transformed into a significant vacation destination of the city.
